Baekhaeyong

My work centers around the concept of ‘harmony’ and repeatedly examines the fundamental connections that constitute existence. I explore whether humans and nature, individuals and the whole, past and future, finite and infinite can coexist together within a single flow, rather than being separated. I embrace change and openness, discovering ways of expression within the process where lines and forms scatter and reconnect. This reflects the tension and change within, as well as the balance with the surrounding world. It is not for formal perfection or beauty. Rather, it is an attempt to view the relationship between humans and the world on a more fundamental level and to examine the structure of connection that exists within it. The work starts from a simple concept. Then, I repeat and adjust that concept, documenting the changes in lines and forms. I do not yet know what benefits this may have. At the very least, I hope it will be a record that does not harm others.

불안을 남기는 행동을 버리고, 혼자 있는 시간 속에서 양심을 마주해야 한다. 끝없는 반성과 노력. 그것이 탐구의 원동력이고, 시작이다. 누구나 꿈을 꾼다. 이루는 사람과 이루지 못하는 사람이 있을 뿐. 좋고 나쁨이 아니다. 모든 것은 스스로 만든 균형이다.
